Regular Cardiff street artist Colourdoomed has taken to a wall in the Roath part of the city to unleash his latest offering.
Painting on the side of a house on Inverness Place the artist spent many days covering the white canvas with a giant blue character holding up a small character in his fingers.
A few people managed to catch the artist at work and posted a few pics on Twitter.
It is alleged online that the event ‘The DPRTE’ (Defence Procurement, Research, Technology and Exportability exhibition) will host exhibitors including BAE Systems, the world’s 3rd largest arms producer, whose weapons are currently being used in the Saudi attacks on Yemen.
So here the artist has represented the main character holding someone to account with loads of notes flying out of a BAE Systems branded cash bag where the artist has officially titled the work ‘Holding those accountable‘.
BAE are just one of over 80 exhibitors set to participate in the arms fair. Some are giants of the international arms industry that might be expected; others have a more local dimension, including the Welsh Assembly’s National Procurement Service and the University of South Wales. Household business names like BT and Panasonic are also all over the programme.
There has been active opposition to DPRTE since 2013 where it was originally held in Bristol, but has since relocated due to protests involving a variety of actions, including blockading an entrance and causing queues on local roads.
