To celebrate Wales qualifying for their first major football tournament since 1958 – BBC Wales had commissioned local artist Rmer to reproduce Cardiff-born player Gareth Bale as a feature for their football build-up TV programme.
On the same day that Wales were playing Andorra at the Cardiff City Stadium – Rmer was busy painting off Whitchurch high street.
BBC Wales cameras captured the work in progress.
Sometimes elaborate pieces of street art can take many days but here Rmer completed this in just a few hours on the side of the Hearing & Mobility shop in Church Road, Whitchurch, Cardiff and under the pressure of the tv cameras rolling throughout.

Featuring a monochrome version of the iconic Gareth Bale, the most expensive football player in the world, who grew-up nearby this location in Whitchurch.
Featuring a vibrant red Wales shirt and Bale’s non-descript characteristics rather well. Bale doesn’t really have any striking facial features but a decent enough job was done here – but a few online trolls seemed to disagree!
