Fish ‘n drips

It seems customary in Cardiff now that tattoo parlours, restaurants and takeaways to feature some element of street art either inside or outside of their premises.

Local artists Rmer and Spk seem to have the local Cardiff contract shared between them with a few previous pieces featured below.

So it was time for Spk to unleash his talents on a chip shop in Roath.

Set on the junction of Crwys Road and Dogfield Street the artist has certainly created an eye catching piece of work.

Taking inspiration from Hokusai’s iconic ‘Great wave‘ and also depicting a famous scene from legendary movie ‘Jaws‘ – this fish based piece has really earned it’s plaice in Cardiff.

Just seeing those yellow barrels again brings back great memories from the film and now features a fork rather than a harpoon fired into the ‘fish’ on the piece.

Also a great nod to the signature on Hokusai’s work featured in the corner of this new work..
