A Welsh icon if there ever was one, Tom Jones, the ageing singer from nearby Pontypridd has been immortalised in some graffiti….. sort of.

It’s not unusual to see some graffiti on the streets of Grangetown but this white text is emblazoned on a back street garage door near Cardiff’s city centre paying tribute to the legendary boy from nowhere.

The full text reads ‘Tom Jones am byth‘ which translates to ‘Tom Jones forever

Set just across the same street is some similar graffiti paying tribute to another popular Welsh music guru.

He may not be as high profile as Sir Tom outside Wales but Bryn Fôn is a Welsh actor and singer-songwriter who was partly responsible for expanding the popularity of Welsh-language pop music amongst Wales’ youth.
