One of the main players in the Cardiff street art scene, Colourdoomed, has started the new year off with a bang…. and a paint…. and added another great piece to the city.

Painting on a familiar spot in the Roath area he has created his latest addition to the front of the old Gaeity Cinema more recently used as the spin centre on City Road.

Already a mecca for tagging and graffiti it’s good news to see some decent street art adorn these walls again.

A large man is painted with his face concealed with only holes cut-out for the eyes and mouth – whilst using a megaphone to get his message across.

Colourdoomed has titled this piece ‘Protestor’ via his Tumblr and left a further message on his Facebook page. (Is this in run up to the forthcoming general election?)

Protest!
Voice your opinion!
Get out of the house and into the streets!”

The piece is almost monochrome with just a subtle hint of colours in the artwork. The only other colour on the wall is that of previous graffiti from taggers that still haunt the surrounding area.

It’s quite ironic that this vintage building is all locked-up with a solitary pad-lock keeping the wooden door firmly secure.
Also parts of the building are deteriorating so much that intricate parts of the detailed brickwork are littered at the base of the artwork.
