A large wall in the Roath area of Cardiff that has seen it’s fair share of graffiti and tagging over the years was to get a welcome makeover as it was included to be painted as part of The Empty Walls festival being held throughout Cardiff.
The wall was originally set aside for Mexican artist LeSuperDemon but due to unfortunate travel issues he couldnt make the event!
Lesuperdemon is a mexican artist who is obsessed with metamorphosis, geometry, euclidian mathematics and quantum mechanics. His colourful, geometric murals explore the the eternal changing process of organic matter, the cycle of nature, life and death.”
Just look at a sample of his amazing work from his Flickr page – featuring colourful geometric animals and designs.
This was such a great wall and it was good to hear that the organisers of the street art festival decided to paint this large wall themselves.
(Hoorah another collab for the festival) Step forward HB and Colourdoomed!
Any previous graffiti had been painted over and the wall prepared with tones of cream and one a bit warmer and earthier – what was going to appear here?
Titled ‘Making War‘ we see two characters each side of a white board playing a game – it seems the piece was only half finished with the centre being filled up days later after these photos were taken.
Playing a game of ‘chess’ HB’s character is featured on the left sporting a green shirt and a panama hat whilst Colourdoomed’s creation is blue and deep in thought!
Many playing pieces were later added to the board featuring characters coloured blue and white on the chess-like board.
So far all the photos have been work in progress (even though they look amazing) there was still even more work going to happen from both artists!
The final photos of this stunning piece are below with all the full details in the small chess characters now complete.
It’s always great to take progress photos to see how things develop – even if they were just by chance.
