Italian artist Run attended the first Empty Walls festival held in the Roath and Cathays part of Cardiff.
The event attracted 12 local and international artists to transform the Capital’s streets bringing colour, culture and vibrancy to the city.
A whole range of artists painted the City including Phlegm, Colour Doomed, Run, 3Dom and Helen Bur. Click the link below to view the other artist’s contributions:- https://diffgraff.wordpress.com/emptywalls
On this huge canvas Run began by creating the background for the large white characters and items that would fill this canvas on Northcote Lane.
Using a scissor lift to reach the top floor of this house he continued to cover up all the previous tagging that blighted this wall and at various places throughout the city.
RUN is interested in street art as a language of communication, creating playful characters that speak to diverse audiences on multiple levels. The expansive scale of his works captivates the viewer and reaches beyond the boundaries of street art.
Throughout many days of hard work Run continued to add the detail to each element of the piece before it was revealed in all it’s beauty.
There was his trademark faces and birds along with some hands, feet, telephones and even some snakes! (Answers on a postcard please!)
