Park and Play in Cardiff Bay

Hailing from Penarth – the South Wales based illustrator Phil Morgan has been hard at work in a carpark located in Cardiff Bay for his latest project.

Commissioned by The Wales Millennium Centre, set opposite the carpark, they asked Phil to bring together the essence of going to ‘The Bay’ to attend any of the range of shows held at the huge arena and also bringing in this carpark too!

Speaking to Buzz Magazine Phil explains his thinking about how the artwork could tie-in the carpark, the WMC, physically getting to Cardiff Bay and how to ‘Roll your way down Cardiff Bay,’ and adds ‘but don’t really look too much into it!’ LOL

Workly so close to both buildings I managed to pop in once a day to see how work was progressing – strangely I never saw Phil actually at work (shame really!)

I always like to see how a piece progresses and the process taken to achieve the stunning end results. Here the filling in of the letters is left til last!

The left hand part of the work features the travel aspect (skates!) whereas the right hand side is the performance side – what a great showbiz piano!

Here is the full video from Buzz Magazine – well worth a watch! It’s interesting to hear the reasons behind why Phil never paints in more than four colours!
