The first Empty Walls festival was held throughout the Cathays and Roath parts of Cardiff in 2013.
The event attracted 12 local and international artists to transform the Capital’s streets to bring colour, culture and vibrancy to the city.
A whole range of artists painted the City including Phlegm, Colour Doomed, Run, 3Dom and Helen Bur. Click the link below to view the other artist’s contributions:-
The next artist to feature here is Cardiffian Phil Morgan who specialises in illustration and bold designs. From his website his work has:-
“featured in magazines, on websites and has been used for t-shirt designs; also created adverts and designed skateboard graphics for Crayon Skateboards as well as having work published in The Washington Post.”
So after all of that it was great to hear that he was taking part in The Empty Walls festival in conjunction with the Made in Roath Festival – and created this friendly illustration opposite Roath Park Primary School.
Set in a lane just off Pen-Y-Wain Road this bright yellow pencil bends it’s way through the canvas stretching the length of the wall.
Being so close to a school there is an encouraging message “School is the new cool” to the passing pupils – emblazoned on the pink rubber.
